Another day, another lawsuit. As noted by MacRumors, Corephotonics, an Israeli maker of dual-lens camera technologies for smartphones, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus infringe upon four of its patents. The patents relate to dual-lens camera technologies appropriate for smartphones, including optical zoom and a mini telephoto lens assembly.
Corephotonics describes itself as “the pioneer and worldwide market leader of dual camera technologies for mobile devices.” The company was established in 2012 by serial entrepreneurs Professor David Mendlovic, Dr. Gal Shabtay, Mr. Eran Kali, Dr. Noy Cohen and Mr. Ephraim Goldenberg. Corephotonics claims to be the first company to design, develop, and commercialize a “uniformly superior, uncompromising, next-generation zoom dual camera.”
