AWT TV Episode 29: November 28, 2017

Welcome to AWT TV, a weekly show featuring Steve Sande, Dennis Sellers and Marty Edwards of Apple World Today. Each week we’ll discuss what’s happened in the world of Apple, talk about new apps and accessories, maybe even have a demonstration or two of the latest software.

On last night’s episode of AWT TV, we spent most of the night in a discussion about Apple’s quality control — or lack of it — with software. This is particularly important in light of several recent annoying bugs with iOS 11, but critical when we look at the macOS High Sierra root user bug — as Steve mentioned, it’s akin to leaving a key in a door in a crime-ridden neighborhood!

Marty had several bugs to demonstrate for us; some are just plain sloppy! For example, he noted that if you change the font size on the iOS compass app found on iPhones, the text showing the elevation  actually “rolls” to the top of the screen. Text is no longer centered properly in the app, and it’s just like Apple isn’t paying that much attention to what goes out the door right now…instead wanting to spend billions of dollars on TV content that most people could care less about.

Steve also shows the GoPro Fusion, a VR camera that recently came out. Although we were unable to demonstrate the use of the camera on the show, stay tuned to Apple World Today for a full review soon.

If you enjoyed today’s show, be sure to give us a thumbs-up and — if you haven’t done it before — subscribe to the Apple World Today YouTube channel.
