Rosenblatt Analyst Jun Zhang estimates that Apple sold six million iPhone X’s during Black Friday for a total of 15 million units so far, according to StreetInsider.
Zhang thinks the production rate for the next gen smartphone increased to three million units per week and could reach four million per week next month. The research firm has raised its December quarter iPhone X shipment estimates from 27 million to 28 million to 30 million.
Zhang says demand for the 256GB model appears to be twice that of the 64GB model, which would be a positive for the average sales price and gross margin, as well as units. The analyst expects seasonality to follow the inventory build, which would cause some softness in March. Rosenblatt’s estimates for the March quarter have dropped from 45 million to 40 million iPhone X units; however, three million of that difference moved to December.
