Wells Fargo, BNZ announce Apple Pay support

Wells Fargo & Company has announced that debit card customers have another way to use the company’s ATMs without their card — “tap and pay” near-field communication (NFC) functionality that is launching at more than 5,000 ATMs across the country, which means Apple Pay compatibility.

The Bank of New Zealand, better known as BNZ, also says it will become the second major financial institution to support Apple Pay in New Zealand, though it gave no date on when this would be implemented. New Zealand’s ANZ Bank already supports Apple’s mobile payment service.

Apple Pay is currently available in 15 countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and U.S.
