Apple’s ARKit has been installed more than three million times through a host of ARKit-powered apps and games since iOS 11 launched on Sept. 19, according to a new report from Sensor Tower.
At this summer’s Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple introduced ARKit. It allows developers to tap into the latest computer vision technologies to build detailed virtual content on top of real-world scenes for interactive gaming, immersive shopping experiences, industrial design and more.
According to Sensor Tower, games are the single largest category at 35% of all available ARKit-only apps. Mobile games have accounted for 53% of ARKit-only app downloads and 62% of revenue since launch, making them the largest portion of this emerging category so far. However, the overall ARKit-only ranking boasts some early standouts from other categories such as lifestyle, utilities, and entertainment.
