At today’s special media event, Apple introduced the iPhone X (yep, that’s the name, not the iPhone Pro or iPhone Edition). CEO Tim Cook said it would set the pattern of smartphone technology for the next decade.
It has glass on both the back and front and features an edge-to-edge display. It’s made of stainless steel and is dustproof and water resistant. Its super retina display that’s 5.8 inches, 2436 x 1125 resolution, and uses OLED technology. It also supports HDR and Dolby vision. The iPhone X boasts a million-to-one contrast ratio and a TrueTone screen.
There’s no more Home button. You can wake your display by simply tapping the screen. Swipe up from bottom of the display go to to the Home screen. Siri is active by saying, “Hey, Siri,” or press the side button to activate the personal digital assistant.
You unlock the iPhone X with facial recognition technology, which Apple has dubbed “Face ID.” A neural engine and the True Depth camera system atop the smartphone allows this thanks to a variety of sensors. Face ID supposedly works even in the dark. The neutral engine is a dual-core system.

The iPhone X — which is powered by an A11 chip — supports the Qi wireless charging standard, which is already in 200-plus million products. Qi charges or powers an array of devices, from smartphones to cordless kitchen appliances and combines induction and resonance technologies.
Alas, you’ll have to wait a while to get one. Ordering will start on Oct. 27, and they’ll ship Nov. 3. The iPhone X will come in 64GB and 256GB models with pricing starting at $999.
