The Quill Apple Pencil Case from Pad & Quill

The Apple Pencil is an odd little beast. With no built-in way for it to nestle with its natural partner — the iPad Pro — the Pencil has a tendency to wander. The accessory artisans at Pad & Quill have come up with The Quill Apple Pencil Case (US$39.95), a very chic way to keep your Apple Pencil nearby and looking good. Here’s “Mr. P” (Brian Holmes) talking about The Quill:

Design

Brian just told you all about the design features of The Quill Apple Pencil Case, but in case you didn’t want to watch the video, we’ll reiterate them. First, it’s made of 100% American full-grain leather. Let’s Make American Cows Great Again! The leather is put together with marine grade stitching.

Available in Galloper Black, Whiskey and Chestnut finishes, The Quill is just 7-1/8 x 3/4 inches in size. Magnets are hidden in one side of the case so that it sticks like glue to an iPad Pro Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard Cover. Note that Pad & Quill says it only works with the Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard Cover for 10.5-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pros; I verified that it also works with the 12.9-inch models of those covers.

Function

The Quill works and looks great! This is now the third Apple Pencil case I’ve tried, and it’s the only one that really does what I want it to do. The Pencil’s cap always has a tendency to turn into a cat toy in my house, so it’s great to see that it’s now attached to The Quill with a cap holder.

But for me the top feature is the magnetic lock that sticks it securely to an iPad Pro cover or case. I have a Logi Slim Combo keyboard cover and Moshi VersaCover for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and The Quill stuck to both!

As usual, The Quill has that signature leather smell to it, and you may find yourself — or your cats — sniffing it with pleasure.

Conclusion

Pad & Quill has done it again, creating an Apple Pencil Case that’s beautiful, well-constructed, and functional. This is one product every Apple Pencil owner should pre-order today.
