OtterBox Symmetry for the iPad Pro shines in its details

For the most part I’ve simply used the Smart Keyboard as the “case” for my 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Some cases I’ve tried were too bulky; others had to be removed to attach the Smart Keyboard. That’s changed with the Otterbox Symmetry Series.

Available for both 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, it protects the pricey tablets while allowing their good looks to shine thanks to the case’s slim, crystal clear design. The protective one-piece Symmetry — which is easy to install — offers decent iPad Pro protection thanks to its dual-material construction.

One of my favorite features: a detachable spine allows you to to attach a Smart Keyboard or Smart Cover. No need to remove the case to use the Apple accessories.

Another of my favorite features: the Symmetry sports an Apple Pencil Holder the secures the stylus … er, pencil … right to the case. Thank you, OtterBox! (Now, Apple, when are we going to get an Apple Pencil that can attach to, and charge via the Smart Connector port? The current solution for recharging — plugging the drawing utensil into the iPad’s Lightning port — is way too kludgy and un-Apple-like.)

One niggling complaint: some folks (like me) appreciate cases that come with screen protectors. The Symmetry isn’t such a case; if you want a screen protector, you’ll have to spring for it separately.

That aside, the Otterbox case is my favorite iPad Pro case so far. For its protective features, aesthetics, and attention to detail, it’s reasonably priced at about $80.
