Apple Music tops 30 million paid subscribers

Apple Music exec Jimmy Iovine tells Billboard that the streaming music service now has “well over” 30 million paid subscribers. That’s up from the 27 million announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June.

Spotify had 60 million paid subscribers in July. Apple Music doesn’t offer a free tier like Spotify does, offers up a free three-month trial to new users. After the free trial period, it costs $4.99 for a student license, $9.99 for a single user license, and $14.99 for a family license.

Apple reports Apple Music revenue as part of the catch-all Services segment, which reported $7.3 billion in third quarter revenue. That’s up 22% year-over-year.
