If you have a MacBook of any sort, you may find looking down at the screen to be uncomfortable. That’s why MacBook stands that elevate the device above a desk or table are so popular, making it simple for anyone to have a MacBook screen at the proper ergonomic height while using an external keyboard and mouse/trackpad for data entry. Today, Twelve South announced the Curve, a US$49.99 matte black aluminum stand that is a new take on an old classic.
That’s right — if the design of the Curve looks somewhat familiar, it’s because Twelve South Creative Director and co-founder Andrew Green designed the original “iCurve” stand back in 2003 for Griffin Technology. As Green notes in his blog entry, “I knew someday I wanted to refresh the classic design for the modern Mac universe. In thinking about bringing it back to market, I visualized Curve as a thin metal ribbon – kind of like a Möbius strip. Utilizing aluminum with a matte black finish, Curve is a fresh remix of the original classic that looks simply stunning, especially when supporting the new Space Grey MacBooks.”
