iOS Apps/Updates
FOCUS: Map of Your World has launched a self-titled mobile app that combines social networking and personalized mapping. It’s purportedly the first personalized map that integrates a user’s interests with the people, places and happenings that align with those interests — in real time. FOCUS is available for free to users in Los Angeles County for iPhone devices running on iOS 10 or later. FOCUS plans to launch in major US cities first, with a nationwide rollout later this year.
Wahrheit Ventures has debuted City Vs City. The free app is a cost-of-living calculator that enables users to account for their standard of living when computing how much their current spending habits would cost in different U.S. cities
macOS Apps/Updates
e3 Software has updated Direct Mail, their email marketing app for macOS, to version 5.0.
The app provides tools for designing and sending attractive newsletters, growing and organizing mailing lists, and tracking and reporting email campaign analytics. The upgrade adds a template editor that’s customizable. Version 5 ships with over 50 new, modern templates,
Direct Mail requires macOS 10.11 or higher. It’s a free download and is available worldwide through the Direct Mail website. Users can send up to 50 emails a month free, with no sign-up required. If users need to send more emails, they can sign up for a pricing plan that fits their needs. Pay As You Go email credits are available starting at $30; unlimited plans start at $15 per month.
Quark says a collection of new digital publishing features and enhancements have been added to App Studio, the digital publishing solution that allows users to create branded content apps using QuarkXPress, InDesign, HTML5 and XML.
The new features in App Studio are designed to make it easier for designers and creative professionals to deliver modern, interactive apps to consumers across a range of digital and mobile devices. In addition to supporting the latest iOS and Android platforms, the new release adds new features and enhances App Studio Web apps so designers can create app-like experiences that run in any modern web browser. New responsive and adaptive layout capabilities are available for any platform.
App Studio customers using QuarkXPress who aren’t currently on the newest version, QuarkXPress 2017, can download a fully-functional free trial for Mac and Windows. With QuarkXPress 2017 it’s possible to test all the new App Studio features within an existing app or with the App Studio Issue Previewer App, which is available for free on both Apple and Google App stores.
