Bosch may supply some of the motion sensors for the ‘iPhone 8’

Robert Bosch has won orders from Apple to supply the next iPhone with some of its motion sensors, a potential blow to InvenSense, which currently is the main supplier of the smartphone components, Bloomberg reports, quoting an unnamed “person familiar with the deal.”

Bosch is a German multinational engineering and electronics company headquartered in Gerlingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. Bloomberg says the company may supply as much as half of these components for the “iPhone 8,” with InvenSense supplying the rest, the person said. Bosch already supplies barometric pressure sensors for the Apple smartphone.Representatives for Apple, InvenSense and Bosch declined to comment.
