ollo Case for iPhone 7 Plus works with the Connect lens system, protects your device

A while back we took a look at the olloclip Core Lens Set (fisheye, super-wide, and macro 15x lenses) with the new Connect interchangeable lens system. This lens set simply clips onto an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, but I hadn’t really used the lenses because I don’t like carrying an unprotected iPhone. Today we’re looking at the ollo Case for iPhone 7 Plus (US29.95) to see how it works with the Connect Lenses (purchased separately).

Design

At first look the ollo Case looks just like many inexpensive cases for the iPhone 7 Plus. It is a slightly opaque case that shows the color of your phone as well as the Apple logo on back, has passthrough buttons for power and the volume toggles, and features a rubberized side bumpers that provide a better grip. The bezel is raised to help the screen stay unscratched.

The big difference is that the Connect clip with the lenses snaps right onto the case, holding everything in place and in alignment with the normal lens of the two-lens 7 Plus.

The case definitely helps with the one issue I had — not having protection on the iPhone when I was using the olloclip lenses — and to me it also seems to provide better alignment of the lenses on the phone than just popping a Connect clip onto a “naked” iPhone.

Function

Of course, these are the same lenses that I tested in my previous review of the Core Lens set, so they still have the same excellent optics. I was impressed with the lenses as they have much less edge distortion and vignetting than previous olloclip lenses. The Connect clip comes with a nice keychain-like holder that can also be set up as an iPhone stand, so the entire thing is overflowing with function. The ollo Case looks is just the icing on the cake.

Conclusion

Here’s a pretty decent case that doesn’t obscure the looks of your iPhone 7 Plus that also mounts olloclip Connect lenses precisely on your phone. The price is right, and if you already have a Connect clip and some of the Connect lenses, you’d be insane to not order an olio Case to tie it all together.
