New iPad Pros may be coming May 16, per ‘AppleInsider’

Many of us were expecting updated iPad Pros last month, but they may be coming soon. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro stock situation appears to be dwindling, with nearly no stock of popular models in high-volume stores, and an expected refresh date across the board of May 16, according to AppleInsider.

The article says that spot-checks of 20 Apple Retail stores show decreasing stock levels or no stock at all at retail. And Apple’s online store is completely sold out of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Quo has predicted thatApple will introduce three iPads this year: a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 and a “low-cost” 9.7-inch iPad, along with a new bezel-free, mid-size model in the range of between 10 and 10.5 inches.

The 12.9-inch update will reportedly feature the True Tone display introduced with its 9.7-inch counterpart, using advanced four-channel ambient light sensors to automatically adapt the color and intensity of the display to match the light in the surrounding environment. The super-sized iPad will also gain the 9.7-inch model’s same 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera and True Tone flash.

True Tone display, four speakers, and a 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera with True Tone flash. All three new iPad Pro models will gain quad microphones, compared to the current dual setup, and retain 3.5mm headphone jacks, according to some rumors.
