If you’re a fan of science fiction (good, bad, and somewhere in between), you should download the COMET TV app for the fourth generation Apple TV. Some of the content is good, while some is incredibly cheesy, in a it’s-so-bad-I-can’t-stop- watching way—but, hey, it’s free.
COMET TV is an American digital broadcast television network owned by the Sinclair Television Group subsidiary of the Sinclair Broadcast Group and operated by the MGM Television division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The network focuses on science fiction with some supernatural, horror, adventure and fantasy series and films, sourced mainly from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film and TV library.
In addition to the app, COMET TV will continue its broadcast offerings to customers in over 100 markets as well as online.
COMET TV’s app included live playback of the network’s broadcast feed with an integrated program schedule along with information on the current programming.
The channel’s programming library including feature films such as: The Crow, Gattaca and Labyrinth. Television series include: Stargate: Atlantis, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and, returning in April, Stargate: SG-1. Airing throughout March is a selection of “March Movie Badness” movies, 36 classic science fiction and genre films airing as an alternative to March Madness programming.
COMET TV is home to hit films (1979’s The Amityville Horror), cult classics (2002’s Bubba Ho-Tep) and some seriously bad movies (1965’s Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine). But, hey, it’s free and available at the Apple TV app store, so there’s no reason not to give it a try.
