My LG UltraFine Display 5K isn’t affected by nearness to a router

In writing for 9to5Mac, Zac Hall reported that his LG UltraFine Display 5K became unusable if located near a router. Though I don’t doubt Zac’s results, mine have been totally different.

Zac found that the UltraFine 5K Display, which Apple touts as a great monitor for use with the latest MacBook Pros, became unusable when positioned within 6.6-feet of a router (in his case, the latest Apple AirPort Extreme). He then found this note on a review for the LG display on Apple’s website:

Zac says that, since moving the router to another room, his UltraFine 5K Display has remained connected without issue.

However, I’ve been using an UltraFine 5K Display for weeks with it located less than two feet from an eero router. Does the monitor work properly near some routers and not others? Do some of the displays have the issue, but not others? Is this a problem with the 4K display? Whatever the problem, just be warned that you might have to put some distance between your router and the LG display — or not.

(See my review of the UltraFine 5K here and my review of the eero here.)
