Although not every LG UltraFine 5K display has exhibited the problem, some of the ultra-high-resolution displays have experienced issues when placed near Wi-Fi routers. AppleInsider is reporting that the monitors have been given additional shielding in newer builds, and that the shielded monitors should be at Apple retailers soon.
The website noted that LG is claiming that the displays with enhanced shielding “will be in the market ‘after February 2017′”, although some stores have already received the new units. The issue that forced the design change occurs with some monitors when they’re placed near a Wi-Fi router. Apple World Today editor Dennis Sellers reported that he has not experienced the problem, even with an UltraFine 5K monitor less than two feet away from an eero router.
AppleInsider also reported that repair or replacement of monitors experiencing the problem will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, although the guidelines for replacement or retrofit haven’t been published at this time.
