Apple’s “iPhone 8” will feature “the highest level of dust and water resistance,” reports the Korea Herald, quoting unnamed “multiple sources.” The upcoming smartphone will purportedly sport an IP68 rating, the highest level of weather protection that can handle submersion for 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water.
Regarding other iPhone 8 speculation, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple will launch an all-new iPhone with a 5.8-inch OLED panel in 2017, but that he smartphone’s actual active area will be a smaller 5.1 to 5.2 inches. He also thinks the iPhone 8 will sport a glass casing with wireless charging.
Other rumors about the iPhone 8 — which could be dubbed the “iPhone 10” since 2017 is the Apple smartphone’s 10th anniversary— say it will come with a curved OLED screen, wireless charging, a faster A11 processor, and no Home button. The Home button function, as well as Camera and Touch ID, will, per the rumor mill, be integrated into the display.
