Honeywell Bluetooth Smart True HEPA is a boon for allergy suffers

By Aaron Lee

The Honeywell Bluetooth Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover is the first air purifier that I know of that uses Bluetooth wireless technology to track local pollen counts via a free iOS app (available at the Apple App Store) and auto-adjust its cleaning levels accordingly.

The technology provides homeowners with insights into how their indoor air quality may be affected by outdoor allergens such as mold and pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. By utilizing the Allergen Alerts and Auto-Set mode, users can customize their units to the auto adjust cleaning level according to allergen levels in a specify zip code. This can be a life saver (or at least a headache saver for allergy sufferers like me).

The Honeywell Bluetooth Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover and free companion app contain unique functionality, personal customization and control, including:

Auto operation that automatically adjusts cleaning levels for airborne allergens, based on local pollen and mold levels, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds);

A proximity sensor that automatically turns the air purifier on or off when the connected mobile device enters or leaves Bluetooth range (up to 30 feet or more);

Custom operation schedules that allow users to create daytime or nighttime schedules based on sleep, time away, or time spent in a certain area of the home;

Filter change reminders that notify users when the True HEPA filter has collected the maximum amount of allergens and irritants, including a quick web link for replacement filter purchases.

The Honeywell Bluetooth Smart True HEPA Allergen Remover, which is available exclusively at Best Buy, costs US$259.99. The accompanying app works with recent iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.
