The Irish High Court has agreed to put Apple on its commercial list, fast-tracking the resolution of legal objections over its planned €850 million (£756 million) datacenter near Athenry, County Galway, according to Business Insider.
The company’s west Ireland data center was facing an 18 month delay after two Irish residents appealed against a local planning body, which gave the development the green light in August. Apple asked the High Court at the start of November to fast-track the legal challenge brought about by the three individuals.
The High Court held a hearing into the matter on Monday and agreed to put the dispute on the “commercial list,” meaning it has to be resolved within six months.
Apple planned to start building the data center on a 500-acre site before the end of 2015. However, it was delayed when unhappy Irish citizens lodged formal complaints with the Irish government. Complainants argued that the data centre would increase noise and light pollution, flooding, and traffic.
