Apple has discontinued the third-generation Apple TV, removing it from its online store, notes 9to5Mac. Links to it now send you to the page for the fourth-generation Apple TV.
The Apple TV 3 was introduced in 2012 and was updated a year later. Since then, Apple has shifted its focus to the fourth gen model and tvOS. Currently, Apple is still selling refurbished models of the third-gen Apple TV for $59; however, supply is limited.
