Apple World Today scares up some fun Halloween goodies

To help you celebrate Halloween, we’ve rounded a handful of events/products that you might wish to check out.

This Halloween join the Pumpkin Hunt on PaigeeWorld (a social network for artists and art enthusiasts), where over 45 pumpkins are hidden. The pumpkins have been created by community members from around the world. The Pumpkin Hunt started at 12 a.m. and finishes at midnight (your local time).

Your goal is to find pumpkins hidden throughout the store by solving riddles, puzzles and codes. All pumpkins have a riddle path to find them as well as a codex path. You will need to solve both riddles and codes to find them all.

Members will be awarded 50 bonus PaigeePoints when they unlock the first pumpkin by using points. Members will be awarded 125 points after finding 25 pumpkins. If a community member finds all of the pumpkins in the hunt, they will earn 500 points, earn a special badge on PaigeeWorld, and qualify to win a participation prize.

You’ll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 7.1 or later and the free PaigeeWorld app, which is available worldwide at the Apple App Store. Full contest and event details are available on PaigeeWorld online.

Application Systems’ Spookick is a fun little game available at the Mac Game Store. It requires mac OS 10.6 or later and costs US$4.99.

Here’s how the game is described: “In the small, dark and eerie town of Spookville, the people are being terrorised by the dead residents of 17 Chester Street. Only you can save them from the hell of haunting this Halloween by keeping the ghosts amused with the one thing they love the most – a good game of pumpkin passing. Use your bat to flip the flesh-creeping fruit over to each member of the ghostly gang and up your points by clicking on the letter-stealing spirits that help you spell out a spooky theme. Time is running out for the townsfolk of Spookville, so watch the clock as you exorcise the phantoms in this fun-filled ghostly game.”

Finally, the Philips Hue is a sure way to give trick-or-treaters an added scare with connected, personalized home lighting — all from your iPhone. You can change the look and feel of your home from night to fright by using Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance’s 16 million color options, and nearly 600 third-party apps. With Philips Hue, you can:

  • Use the new and completely wireless Philips Hue Motion Sensor to set your lights to eerily turn on and off automatically.
  • Set your Philips Hue lights to Halloween orange or blood red to set the creepiest of tones.
  • Create spine-tingling effects using third-party apps such as Hue Halloween and Hue Disco, turning your home into a sound and light show by syncing Philips Hue bulbs to the beat of any song.
  • Place a Philips Hue Go inside of a carved pumpkin for a spooky and colorful illumination.

Happy hauntings.
