McLaren? Lit Motors? Darn it, the media is sure that Apple is gonna buy SOME car company

First it was the The Financial Times reporting Apple has approached McLaren Technology Group, the British supercar engineer and Formula One team owner, about a potential acquisition (which McLaren denies). Now a New York Times write-up claims Apple is in talks with Lit Motors regarding a possible acquisition. Both parties have denied comment.

Lit Motors, which is headquartered in San Francisco, specializes in designing two-wheeled, gyroscopically stabilized electric vehicles. Although a stark departure from the supercar pedigree associated with McLaren, “a deal on this front could possess its own virtues,” opines Seeking Alpha.

Lit has designed the C1, a scooter/motorcycle-like car designed for efficient high speed travel. Influenced by Scandinavian design, the exterior of the two-passenger C-1 envelopes you curves, softened volumes, and expansive glass.

The C-1, which is still in development, will sportsmart home and cloud connectivity. It uses high-torque in-hub electric motors designed to save space and provide a responsive driving experience. These motors purportedly regenerate energy while braking, using a KERS to store the energy kinetically in the gyro flywheels.
