Rumor: iPhone 7 could have a 256GB top storage tier

It will be SO nice when Apple finally has its event to announce the newest iPhone, since the rumor mills are running overtime right now. Those wacky folks at DigiTimes are citing industry sources and saying that the iPhone 7 (or whatever it’s called) will come in a 256GB version

DigiTimes is actually the third site to report this news; Taiwanese research firm TrendForce and website MyDrivers have both conjectured about a bigger storage tier for the iPhone 7 in the past. DigiTimes says that “NAND flash vendors have increased chip prices citing strong demand for new smartphones particularly the iPhone 7 featuring up to 256GB of storage, according to industry sources.”

The increased top storage tier is good news for those who use their iPhones to store mass quantities of photos, videos and other media. In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that the bottom end capacity for the iPhone 7 will be 32GB, finally abandoning the ridiculously small 16GB capacity. It appears that the device could come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, although the 256GB storage could just be available for the “Plus” model. That would mean that the 4.7-inch model could just come with in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities.
