Rumor: a Final Cut Pro X update and a revamped Mac Pro coming in October

There are rumors of a big Final Cut Pro upgrade coming in October. The rumor mill also suggests (hopes?) that a revamped Mac Pro might debut at the same time.

The FCPX Creative Summit of Oct. 28-30 would be a opportune time for Apple to roll out a new version of FCPX and an upgraded Mac Pro. What’s more, code in Mac OS X El Capitan hints that a new Mac Pro could arrive soon, according to the Learn Final Cut website.

My take: although the Mac Pro hasn’t been updated since 2013, I won’t be surprised to see the high-end desktop discontinued with Apple reasoning that the iMac its current form, offers lots of power and, with Thunderbolt, impressive expansion opportunities. I could be wrong — and, for the sake of Mac Pro fans, I hope I am. On the bright side (for pro users), I do think we’ll see a substantial upgrade of FCPX at the Creative Summit.
