Pyle USA releases inexpensive 4K HD Action Camera

When it comes to capturing spectacular video, 4K action cameras are the best. However, these little cameras often come with a big price tag, putting them out of the range of many people who would love to capture their adventures in all the detail of 4K HD video. Pyle USA today announced the US$79 High Speed 4K HD Action Sports Camera, which should make it possible for everyone to shoot 4K video without breaking the bank.

The little camera, which comes with a waterproof case, wireless remote control, handlebar mount, and universal base mount, has some big specs. For video shooting, users can select between 4K Ultra HD, 2.7K, 1080p and 720p resolution using a unique slow-motion (120fps) capture speed. When taking still images, users can choose between 16MP, 12MP, 8MP, 5MP and 2MP resolutions. Both stills and video can be captured with one button.

Like other action cameras, the High Speed 4K HD Action Sports Camera comes with an iPhone app. The free XDV app includes an Apple Watch companion app that can be used as a remote. Everything you shoot can be downloaded to the app wirelessly, sent to the Photos app on your Mac through a USB connection, or stored on an internal microSD card of up to 32GB capacity (not included).

If you’re not fond of the blue color seen on this page, the Action Sports Camera also comes in black and  grey finishes. There’s a 2-inch LCD touch screen display on the back for changing resolution on the fly, displaying what you’re shooting in true color. The device uses a Sony image sensor for high quality imaging, and comes with a lithium rechargeable battery for up to two hours of continuous use.

Of course, we always recommend a “try before you buy” approach when looking at low-cost solutions, so we’ll be getting one of these Pyle cameras for testing soon.
