On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.
Mac OS X Apps/Updates
Static Z Software has released Sound Control, a sound volume mixer for the Mac. It enables users to quickly change app volumes, as well as selectively apply a system-wide EQ to app audio.
Sound Control does this by adding a software mixer to the menu bar of your Mac. In addition to the volume mixer, Sound Control also adds a software EQ to your audio output allowing you to tailor the sound of your Mac’s audio to their specific taste or to properly calibrate to the frequency response of their speakers.

Norbert M. Doerner has released NeoFinder 6.9.1. It’s an update of the app that helps you keep track of your digital files, photos, songs, movies, fonts on hard drives, USB sticks, servers, Blu-ray disks, DVD-ROMs, CDROMs, and any other digital media.
NeoFinder generates thumbnails and metadata of your files, for powerful search possibilities, smart folders, albums, and more. Version 6.9.1offers numerous improvements and bug fixes. Users can now select multiple movies for the Video Contact Sheet, a new Global Find menu bar, and so much more.
The app requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher. NeoFinder 6.x is a paid update to licensed users of CDFinder, update price starting at approximately US$21. Ergonis Software has announced PopChar X 7.6, an improved version of the tool for finding and inserting special characters and exploring fonts.
With PopChar, thousands of special characters are only a few clicks away. Version 7.6 .6 supports Unicode 9.0, the most recent major update to the Unicode Standard. Unicode 9.0 adds 7,500 characters, for a total of 128,172 characters. PopChar X 7.6 also adds further improvements and enhancements and improves overall stability and compatibility with third-party applications like MS Word.
The software requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. It can be purchased on the Ergonis Software website for US$29.99 for new users. The upgrade to PopChar X 7.3 is free for anyone who owns a license for PopChar X 7 or purchased a license for PopChar X 6 on or after March 1, 2014. Upgrade paths are available for customers who purchased their license before that date.
iOS Apps/Updates
Incrementor has launched Agile Nomad. It’s a cloud-based iPad app that allows collaborate and communication among Agile team members. Agile Nomad is available as a monthly subscription service of $8.99 — or $89.90 yearly.
Applinga has introduced Selfielicious 1.01. The free selfie-sharing app allows users to stream their selfies to others in their social groups. Users can sign in with Twitter or Facebook and promote their photos. Selfielicious comes with photo-editing features.
Keithan Torrey has unleashed Dog Training App 1.0. The app contains over 33 tutorial videos based on a style of canine training called clicker training, a popular positive reinforcement training methodology. The app even includes a built in clicker. Dog Training App is free, but does tout in-app purchases.
Chicken Charge is a free, active augmented reality game for iOS devices that merges the real world with a virtual world in a unique way. As in Pokemon Go, you can see and hear virtual characters in a real world setting. But unlike that game, you can also physically walk around the virtual objects, seeing the 3D creatures from all angles. You walk in the real world, actively dodging virtual obstacles while chasing the elusive chickens within a virtual arena aligned with the real world.
