Notable apps and app updates for June 6, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

AppYogi Software has introduced Internet Speed Test 1.0 for Mac OS X. The menu bar app features a single threaded algorithm to monitor the download and upload speed of your personal computer network. 

Internet Speed Test uses a single connection to download the sample files thatsimulates what is done in everyday online use. It also allows you to see your public IP with Mac address on the Menu Bar.

Internet Speed Test requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later. It costs $4.99 and is available at the Mac App Store in the Utilities category.

St. Clair Software has announced Default Folder X 5.0.5, an upgrade to the utility for Mac OS X Yosemite and El Capitan. Default Folder X enhances the file dialogs in all Mac OS X applications.

It provides fast navigation to your files, convenient previews, integrated Spotlight tagging, and more. Default Folder X’s custom keyboard shortcuts put your favorite and recent folders at your fingertips.Version 5.0.5 is a maintenance upgrade that improves speed, reliability, and compatibility.

Default Folder X 5.0.5 is a free upgrade for registered users. New licenses are $34.95; upgrades from version 4 and prior are $14.95.

iOS Apps/Updates

Design Luscinia has released Word Dance 1.0. It’s a $2.99 word cloud generator. Word Dance allows you to create videos of word clouds that morph between shapes.

B-Eng has debuted System Boost 1.0. It’s a $1.99 security and system info app that displays general device information as well as security information. System Boost can also detect alterations in the OS itself, checking the device for a possibly existing jailbreak and other anomalies.

 

tvOS Apps/Updates for the Apple 

TVDDH Software has rolled out Over The Bars – Road Bike Racing 1.0. It’s a $9.99 arcade road bike racing game that you control with your bicycle when paired to a Wahoo KICKR indoor power trainer. It’s designed to provide users with a workout challenge while tearing through a beautiful island beachfront course, complete with hills, bridges, and aggressive opponents.
