On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.
iOS Apps and Updates
VUE – Video camera with artistic tools, filters and stickers
Like sharing short videos on Facebook or Instagram? VUE is a new free app that lets you record up to four short scenes to create a montage, enhance the video with designer stickers (showing weather conditions, the date, etc…),, apply cinematic filters from a selection of a dozen professional designs before creating your six-second masterpiece. VUE shoots in wide and ultra-wide aspect ratios, and is optimized for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Fun? Yes. I just Kubricked the heck out of myself:
Gboard
Google’s free Gboard keyboard for iOS just got its first update, killing some bugs and improving performance. The developers also added a couple of tips. First, by switching on “contacts search” in Gboard search settings you can search and share contacts without opening the Contacts app. Second, you can use the spacebar to control your cursor by swiping back and forth on it. Cool!
OS X Apps and Updates
PaintCode 2
Perhaps you are heading back from WWDC tomorrow with newfound inspiration to develop a killer app. Want to speed things up in getting your app designed, coded, and ready for market? It helps if you don’t have to draw all of those little vector drawings yourself. PaintCode 2 ($99.99) instantly generates Objective-C, Swift or C# drawing code, allowing you to create resolution-independent apps.
Core Animator
You’d like your app to have lots of animation in it? No problem. With Core Animator ($99.99) you can easily design animations that are then translated into Swift or Objective-C code. Whether it is full scenes or just UI elements you want to bring to life, Core Animator lets you do it with a minimum of fuss and even includes Retina support.
