If you have a child ages 8 to 12, you can sign ‘em up for Apple Camp by clicking here. Apple Camp is a three-day program held at your local Apple retail store.
The program is designed to “broaden their [the kids] creative horizons by making movies, creating interactive books, and more using Apple products.” Kids will learn visual block-based coding for games, applying logic skills such as pattern recognition and problem solving. Then they’ll use what they’ve learned to program their own robots to perform tasks, challenges, and much more.
Campers will learn how to create their own movies. They’ll storyboard ideas, shoot video, and delve into other aspects of the filmmaking process. Then they’ll edit their videos in iMovie on a Mac.
Campers will also create their own interactive books and learn about the elements of writing a story, from idea to storyboarding. They’ll draw illustrations using an iPad, then add sound effects and Multi-Touch features using iBooks Author on a Mac.
Each workshop lasts for 90 minutes, and takes place in Apple Stores in the United States, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK. We’ll add the dates when known, but usually they span a number of days in July and August. Sessions are free, but places are limited.
