When it comes to live streaming TV and creating professional videos from multiple sources, the go-to Mac app has long been Boinx TV. Developers Boinx Software announced a new name for a new version of the app, unveiling mimoLive. That name describes precisely what mimoLive is — a Multi-in, Multi-out Live Video Engine.
What’s new in the app? According to Boinx,
- Built in live streaming to any RTMP-based streaming service (including Wowza, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch.tv and more)
- Integrate with your workflow using SDI playout including an alpha channel using hardware from BlackMagic Design
- Direct manipulation in layers, to directly adjust all visual elements
- Frosted glass effects in many layers
- Modern 64-Bit architecture, so mimoLive can now use all the RAM available
- All new user interface
mimoLive, unsurprisingly, runs only on Intel-based Macs with discrete graphics from ATI or NVIDIA and needs a minimum of 8GB of RAM. Other requirements include at least OS X Yosemite, and the company suggests having the Apple Intermediate Codec or Apple ProRes Codec installed.
Boinx has changed the licensing for the app as well; rather than just purchasing a one-time license, users can now purchase a Private/Education, Commercial, or Broadcast license subscription for a month, a year or three years. The Private/Education license is $19 for a month, $199 for a year, and $399 for three years, and allows non-profit, non-commercial use of the app. A Commercial license goes for $69 per month, $699 per year and $1,399 for three years, and allows use at events, for creating in-house videos, doing church broadcasting, recording university lectures, etc… Finally, the Broadcast license is for mission-critical commercial environments with large audiences, and goes for $199 per month, $1,999 per year, and $3,999 for three years. Support for the app increases at each successively more expensive level.
