Over the past week we’ve had a number of readers start backing us on Patreon or increase their support for the site. Thanks to them, we now have support coming in at $1,624.49 per month. While that’s over double the amount we started with at the end of August, we’re still over $1,400 per month below the level needed to keep going. Don’t worry — we’re not going to shut down on you!
We’re a small site by Apple website standards — we only get about 60,000 unique visitors a month, while our total page impressions are of course much higher. If just one out of every ten unique visitors — 10% — would pay $1 per month or more towards the care and feeding of the bloggers here, we’d be at twice the amount needed to keep going. You do that, and we promise to take every ad off the site. Right now, we’re getting support from one out of every 215 readers.
You probably read my comments about content blockers today. As a person who visits a lot of websites from his iPhone and iPad, I think they’re great. From an advertiser or website publisher’s viewpoint, they’re a nightmare. Pledge money, and you get quickly-delivered content without having to worry about the site going down.
Our new Patreon heroes are:
Justin Winokur
Michael John
Joe Massi
Michael D. Johas
Matt Cooney
Johannes Rüster
Patrick Rousseau
Chris Westergaard
Russell Skogstad
David Dennis
Daniel Berlinger
Ralf Schuchardt
So, now’s your chance to join these great people and the other folks who are putting their money on getting great content. I’ve thrown down the gauntlet and we’ll delete any and all ads if we can get up to and sustain $6,000 a month in reader support.
