“Hue-ge” news: HomeKit support coming to Philips Hue bulbs this fall

One of the pioneers of app-controlled lighting, Philips, has announced via a Facebook post that the Philips Hue line of LED lights will be compatible with Apple’s HomeKit home automation framework starting this fall:

Hue Fans, we have exciting news! Philips Hue meets Apple HomeKit.
Starting this fall we will take your lighting experience to the next level and unlock new features for your existing Hue lights. Stay tuned to learn how we will support you with any necessary upgrade to your system. More details will follow from September 2015 onwards.

What’s especially good to hear is that existing Hue lights will work with HomeKit, meaning that all those who have purchased the colorful LEDs will be able to add them to a HomeKit “scene” and control them with Siri.
