Just over one year ago, Foursquare released Swarm, a separate app for check-ins, and killed mayorships and badges in the process. No longer able to commandeer the local Starbucks as their own, many users complained about the omission. Today there is hope, you would-be virtual mayors.
The company has confirmed that global mayorships will return to Swarm “soon.” Badges will not return, but there will be 100 new stickers that people can add to check-ins, photos and messages.
Remember when that jerk Lou took over as mayor of your coffee place just as Foursquare removed that function, leaving you unable to usurp him for a whole year? Your reckoning is nigh. Lou is going down. What’s the sticker for that?
