Desk version 1.3 adds features, squashes bugs

Developer John Saddington is one very busy guy. About a month ago he released version 1.2 of his popular Desk text/Markdown editor for OS X (US$29.99) to the Mac App Store, and now he’s just finished version 1.3. What has he added to Desk in just a month?

First, Saddington added post formats for WordPress and Tumblr, two of the popular blogging platforms supported in Desk. At the present time, those formats include text, photo, quote and link, and he plans on adding additional formats in the future.

There’s also a Typewriter Mode now. What’s Typewriter Mode? The current line of text that’s being written is always at the bottom of the screen, with the rest of your blog post scrolling above it. It’s actually quite useful!

Desk 1.2 now has a new preview mode, and one feature that is a must for bloggers — scheduled posts. No longer are posts immediately published; bloggers can set up a time and date to have a post go live.

Finally, the app’s easy image import feature now gives bloggers an opportunity to write captions for those images before uploading. A bunch of bug fixes have been implemented, and Saddington has hinted that the next version update “is a large Multi-Markdown update”.

It’s refreshing to see this great blogging app get even better so quickly!
