Welcome to Apple World Today. While this is a new website, the roots of it go back ten years to the founding of a site called The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW). That site grew out of Weblogs, Inc., which had a large stable of websites including Engadget, Joystiq, and Autoblog. Weblogs, Inc. was acquired in 2005 by Aol, which regrettably decided to discontinue some of the “smaller” websites in the last week. TUAW was down, but not out.
Steve Sande is the publisher and co-editor-in-chief of Apple World Today. He’s only been with TUAW since 2008, having run some smaller mobile technology sites in the past. Steve’s claim to fame is having written 2.3 million words of content for TUAW during that time, as well as running the TUAW TV Live and TUAW Daily Update podcasts. Steve lives in Colorado with his rocket scientist wife “Bionic Barb” and a pair of cats.
Dave Caolo is a veteran Apple blogger and editor-in-chief of Apple World Today, having started with TUAW back in 2005. Beyond his amazing writing and editing skills, Dave is also a master podcaster. He can be heard on both Home Work with sidekick Aaron Mahnke and on his new podcast Board Games Weekly. Did we mention that he’s a board game fanatic? You’ll find out soon enough. Dave lives on Cape Cod with his wife and kids.
Kelly Hodgkins should be called the hardest-working tech blogger in the world, producing thousands of articles for TUAW, MacRumors, BGR, and IntoMobile, organizing deals for our readers, and raising a family in rural Maine at the same time.
Our goal with Apple World Today is to pick up where TUAW left off as a source of news and reviews. But we want to take the site to you, the readers, by offering discussion forums (are we crazy to do this?), podcasts, and more video content. Wherever possible, we want to get our audience engaged by joining with us in online and live on-the-air discussions.
AWT is a relative baby in the world of blogging about that company from Cupertino, and as such you can expect us to poop ourselves on a regular basis as we get used to our new home. But we are going to do everything we can to make this a site that revolves around you — our readers, viewers and listeners.
