As the person who gets to write a lot of accessory reviews here at Apple World Today, I see many iPhone stands that are either too bulky to carry with you all the time, too fixed in one position to be useful, or too expensive. The Standr (€3.99, about $4.54, postpaid) is a completely minimalist iPhone stand that’s inexpensive, tiny, and perfect for mobile use.
Made in two colors — black or white — the Standr is simply a precisely designed little rectangle of plastic with a notch in it. However, slide that notch onto a side of an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus and you’ll find that you can prop your phone up in either a portrait or landscape orientation. It weighs less than .1 ounce (3 grams), and the only issue you may have is finding it in a backpack or briefcase pocket.
It’s perfect for watching videos, but my favorite use for the Standr so far is propping my iPhone 6 Plus up and typing into writing apps using my beloved Logitech Keys-To-Go Bluetooth keyboard. Check out this short video showing how well the Standr works:
Conclusion: I felt that the Standr worked very well in landscape mode, but it was very tricky to get the iPhone 6 Plus to stand in portrait orientation — I actually used two Standrs for a very stable portrait stand. The device only works on iPhone 6 or 6 Plus without a case, so if you protect your iPhone with a case, you’ll need to take it off before using the Standr.
