Here’s your afternoon dose of tech and Apple news. We’ve got a pair of spiffy ads and an update to Skype for iPhone. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Two new Apple-centric ads
Apple took the opportunity of last night’s Grammy Awards ceremony to show off a new ad for the iPad Air 2 that focuses on music. Recording artist Elliphant and her collaborators are shown using the iPad Air 2 in various stages of pop music production. It’s pretty cool, actually.
Meanwhile, the folks at American Express have whipped up a delightfully nostalgic ad to promote Apple Pay. Several celebrities appear in clips from those vintage “Don’t leave home wihthout it” commercials, until the ad ends with a contemporary shopper paying for his purchases with Apple Pay. It’s clever and fun.
New Skype
Here’s something for those to love Skype on their iPhones. Microsoft released Skype for iPhone version 5.10 today, which lets you save numbers entered with the dial pad for future use. Another new feature gives you one-tap access to the app whenever you tap a contat’s Skype number.
Apple Watch News
Medical device manufacturer told The Wall Street Journal that it’s working on an app for the Apple Watch that will display informaiton related to a wearer’s blood-sugar health.
Amazing Drone Footage of Apple Campus 2
If you’ve been following the construction of Apple’s “spaceship” campus in Cupertino, California, then you’ll be amazed by the latest drone footage made available by AppleInsider. The steel structure of the new building is starting to rise, the auditorium is taking shape, and one parking structure is almost looking ready for occupancy.
We’ll bring you a roundup of the day’s relevant tech news every afternoon.
