Chinese carriers rumored to start selling the ‘iPhone 6s’ Sept. 25

Apple will almost certainly announce the next generation iPhone at its Sept. 9 media event. However, China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom will start selling the “iPhone 6s” on Sept. 25 and pre-sales will begin on Sept. 18, according to the Leaksfly microblog (as noted by BrightWire.com, a global investment newswire).

The iPhone 6s is the name expected to be given to the next version of the smartphone — unless Apple decides to call it the iPhone 7. Citing sources within China Mobile, Leaksfly claims the 16GB version will be priced at CNY 5,299 (about US$831), the 64GB version at CNY 5,999 and 128GB version at CNY 6,599.

At one point, it was suspected that Apple would phase out the 16GB model and start entry-level models at 32GB. However, recent rumors have Apple continuing the 16GB baseline smartphone for at least one more year.
