Have you ever sent out a tweet, only to immediately notice a misspelling or other error? Twitter Blue subscribers may soon be able to edit those tweets, as inside testing has begun on an editable tweet function.
A tweet from the official Twitter account today (see image above) shows the text “Last edited 8:55 AM…”. Twitter noted in the past that it was working on an editable tweet button. A Twitter blog post says the button becomes available to some groups of Twitter Blue subscribers later this month.
So nobody is able to edit a tweet surreptitiously, edited tweets are clearly marked as edited. Users are able to see previous versions of the tweets. A user can edit a tweet for up to 30 minutes after sending.
Testing of the edit button is “localized to a single country” for now and is expected to expand. Twitter says it will keep an eye on how editing will “impact the way people read, write and engage with Tweets.”
