Disney+ is developing a series based on the football team from the California School for the Deaf Riverside (CSDR) with Troy Kotsur attached to play the team’s coach, reports Variety.
ABC Signature has partnered with CSDR, their football program, and the the California Department of Education to develop the untitled series for Disney+. Variety says the show will tell the true story of the CSDR Cubs’ 2021 football season, when the team went undefeated and got all the way to the California State Championship.
Kotsur won Best Supporting Actor for “CODA,” which was named Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards. He is the first Deaf male actor to win Best Supporting Actor.
