Tim Cook: sales of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have exceeded expectations

iPhone sales were up 2% year-over-year by unit number in Apple’s fiscal 2017 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 30. Apple smartphone numbers were 46.7 million for the quarter compared to the 45.5 million iPhones sold in the same period of 2016.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that sales of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus exceeded expectations. Available in 50 countries, he said that they “instantly became our two most popular iPhone models and have been every week since.” Cook said that iPhone X orders have been “very strong” and “we’re working to get the device in customers hands as quickly as possible.”
