The Workstream by Monoprice is an excellent monitor mount at an affordable price

If you need to mount a monitor or two for your work set-up, the Workstream by Monoprice Dual-Monitor Adjustable Gas-Spring Desk Mount  is an excellent solution at a surprisingly low price (US $59.99).

It can handle displays ranging from 15 to 34 inches and weighing up to 19.8 pounds. Its gas‑spring adjustable articulating monitor arms let you place your displays wherever you want them. 

Of course, not everyone has just a need. But if you do the Workstream allows you to suspend a monitor or two off your desk, reducing desktop clutter. But the really cool feature is how the counterbalanced gas‑spring arm lets you easily adjust the monitor to the position you want. This is a feature lacking in Apple’s Studio Display and iMac, which is too bad. It can help reduce strain on your neck, shoulders, and eyes. 

The Gas‑Spring Adjustable Articulating Monitor Arm enables endless monitor adjustment and smooth movement in any direction, including height up and down, extension/retraction forward and back, monitor tilt, swivel, and rotation. 

Monoprice says the setup is quick and easy using the included edge clamp or grommet mount, “so you’ll be ready to go in minutes.” However, I found the installation to be confusing and more complicated than that. Setting it up in my church building’s AV loft took over an hour. But it was eventually worth it. 

The Gas‑Spring Adjustable Articulating Monitor Arm is compatible with displays with 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 VESA patterns. As mentioned it supports two displays weighing up to 19.8 pounds each. Displays can be individually swiveled ±90° to get the optimum viewing angle.

You can rotate displays ±90° to switch between landscape and portrait display orientations. And cable management clips help keep your workstation neat. The plastic covers for cable management are flimsy , but, hey, the Monoprice mount only costs $60.

Note that if you’re considering the Gas‑Spring Adjustable Articulating Monitor Arm you’ll need plenty of space behind your desk for the arms. For smaller desks it’s a little overwhelming.
