The upcoming iOS 18 will reportedly be part of the biggest iPhone update ever

In his latest “Power On newsletter,” Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the upcoming iOS 18 will be part of the biggest iPhone update ever.

Part of that will be a home screen that’s more customizable. And the operating system update will be packed with artificial intelligence (AI) features, according to Gurman. On March 18, it was reported that Apple is talking with Google about integrating its Gemini AI engine into the iPhone as part of iOS 18, “setting the stage for a blockbuster agreement that would shake up the AI industry.”

According to Google, Gemini is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU (Massive Multitask Language Understanding), one of the most popular methods to test the knowledge and problem solving abilities of AI models.

iOS 18 will almost certainly be unveiled at this summer’s Apple Worldwide Developer conference and roll out to end users in September or October.
