The iPhone 14 Pro phones will be the ‘big iPhone story’ this year

In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple will release four iPhone 14 models later this year.

He says the main new feature is the revamped lock screen, which will accompany an always-on display. The iPhone 14 Pro will be able to show widgets displaying weather, calendars, stocks, activities and other data while the screen remains at a low brightness and frame rate, he adds. There will be a setting that keeps sensitive data from appearing on the lock screen.

Gurman says other new iPhone 14 Pro features include a much-improved front-facing camera, a new rear-camera system that includes a 48-megapixel sensor, thinner bezels, a faster A16 chip, and a redesigned notch with a pill-shaped cutout for Face ID and a hole punch for the camera.

Finally, he adds the iPhone 14  Pro phones will be the big iPhone story this year, with the non-Pro iPhone 14 models generating less excitement. The lower-end phones will stick with the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13, though the 5.4-inch mini size will be replaced with a 6.7-inch model.

Other rumors about the upcoming iPhone 14 line-up include:

° At least some of the models will be eSIM-only.

° The ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ will contain 8GB of RAM.

° Some will sport 120GHz displays.

° The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will have a hole + pill design.

° The top two models have also have OLED screens.

° They will support the Wi-Fi 6E standard.

° Black, white, blue, red and purple will be the color options for the iPhone 14, while graphite, gold, silver and purple will be available on the iPhone 14 Pro.

° There will be a new purple colorway for both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro that shifts in tone depending on the lighting.
