In a note shared with MacRumors —- display analyst Ross Young says Apple’s rumored 27-inch external display with mini-LED backlighting is no longer expected to launch in the first quarter of 2023.
Why? Product delays. Young didn’t give a timeframe on when the new external display might arrive.
Unlike the US$1,599 Studio Display, the upcoming monitor one will support ProMotion technology for refresh rates up to 120MHz in addition to a mini-LED panel. Ross doesn’t think the display will be promoted as a replacement for the $4,999, 6K Pro Display XDR.
Still, the addition of mini-LED and ProMotion tech is likely to result in a higher price tag than that of the Studio Display, he adds. Studio Display Pro, anyone?
