Setting Persistent iPhone Notifications

There’s nothing that irritates me more than to get a notification on the Lock Screen of my iPhone that disappears before I have a chance to read it. Set your notifications as persistent banner style and they’ll stay visible until you read them. Here’s how to set persistent notifications for your most-used apps.

The Difference Between Persistent and Temporary iPhone Notification Banners

Which type of notification banner is best for you? Temporary banners appear for a few seconds and disappear, while persistent banners stay around until you tap on it or dismiss it. For your most important iPhone notifications, in your most-used apps, the persistent banner is the right style to choose.

Make Your Notification Banners Persistent

This is really easy!

  1. Launch the Settings app
  2. Tap Notifications
In Settings, tap the Notifications button

3. Scroll down to the app you want to set for persistent notifications

4. Tap Banner Style

Tap the Banner Style button and select Persistent

5. Tap Persistent

When a notification comes in for that app, it stays around until you decide to manage, view or clear it. Sadly, there’s no way to set persistence for more than one app at a time.
