See how much storage space your iPad has available

Need to see how much storage space your iPad has available? Need to make more space? Both are easy.

Seeing how much storage space you have

To see how much storage space you have:

° Open the Settings app.

° Tap “General,” and then tap “iPad Storage.”

° After a few moments, your iPad will display a visual representation of how much space you have left, and which apps are using the most memory.

If you’re running low on space or the table is running sluggishly, you’ll need to free up some space. Under the graph of your iPad’s storage, you’ll see a list of every app on the tablet and how much space they’re taking up on its drive.

Freeing up storage space

If there’s an app that you don’t use anymore, you can delete it. Here’s how:

° Under the storage space app listing, tap on the icon of the app.

° Tap “Delete App” and the app AND all it’s data is removed. So proceed with caution when doing this. A better choice might be:

° Tap “Offload App” to delete the app from the iPad, but leave the data installed. If you reinstall the app later, all its accompanying data will still be handily available.

You can also delete music files you don’t listen to any more. Here’s how:

° Under the storage space app listing, tap the Music icon.

° Swipe left on any artists that you want to remove and tap “Delete.”

° You can also delete certain albums or songs. Tap an artist to see a list of all of that artist’s albums. Swipe left and tap “Delete.” Or you can tap on an album to delete individual songs.

° Or you can go crazy and delete all your tunes. Swipe “All Songs” to the left and then tap “Delete.”

Another option is to optimize Music storage.  With this option, iPadOS will determine which songs you haven’t playing recently and delete them from your iPad. To enable this, open Settings > Music and enable “Optimize Storage.”

You should also clear the Safari web browser cache occasionally. All web browsers save data from the sites you visit a lot. This speed things up, but, after a while, the Safari web browser cache can get pretty big.

To remove browsing history, cookies, and other saved data, go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data, and tap that option.

Unfortunately, you can’t clear the data for individual sites on an iPad. It’s all or nothing.
