Rumor: LG developing foldable OLED panels for iPhones

According to Korea IT News, LG Display has partnered up with Apple and Google and is developing “out-foldable” displays for smartphones. The article says the company is going to start mass-producing them in 2018, so we might see a “foldable” iPhone 9.

Pictured is a seven-inch foldable display that was introduced by LG Display during CES 2013. LG is already working closely with Apple; the companies, in tandem, worked on the UltraFine 4K and UltraFine 5K monitors, which Apple promotes as the external display for use with the 2016 MacBook Pros.
