iPhone 14 rumors are so yesterday; let’s look ahead to the iPhone 15. China’s BOE will supply Apple with OLED LTPO displays for the higher-end models of the iPhone 15 lineup in 2023, according to The Elec.
The article says BOE hopes to achieve this by “by successfully applying low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology on the OLED panels it will manufacture at its latest factory B12 at Chongqing. LTPO technology allows for a 120Hz variable refresh rate on the screen
So far, BOE has only supplied 6.06-inch OLED panels for lower-tier iPhones. It will be supplying the same panel for the standard model in the iPhone 14 series launching in the fall this year, according to The Elec.
Speaking of the iPhone 15, analyst Jeff Pu claims that the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a periscope lens with a 5x optical zoom.
He says the tech giant is in negotiations with Lante Optics, which is expected to be the main supplier of the periscope lenses to be used in the 2023 iPhones. The report claims that Apple has already received component samples and a final decision should be made by May.
